Bringing democracy to Federal Parliament

Today parliament does not belong to the people it belongs to the majority party. The United Party is not contesting the Federal election and so is in an unbiased position to develop a strategy of collaboration between the nonmajor parties and Independents so that they form a stronger thirdparty voice and evolve toward holding the balance of power in the Senate and the House of Representatives.

I was elected by the people of Australia as the Prime Minister of Australia the people of Australia ... elected me as Prime Minister is false. As everyone knows there is no Prime Ministerial box to tick on the ballot papers. Kevin Rudd was elected by the Labor Party caucus as its leader and potential Prime Minister but the voters had no say in this. See the media release.

Election results

11 seats were available in the Legislative Council. 74 candidates contested and it was generally anticipated that 8 seats would go to Labor and Liberal and 2 to the Greens and Family First leaving one for the remaining 64. The United Party was not successful but given its recent creation and the short campaign the achievement of about 1700 primary votes and over 7000 secondary was considered very respectable and we are pleased with the result a good start for the launch of the party.

Move motorsport to the Port

The United Party supports the proposal of the Adelaide Motorplex group to buy land in Adelaides northwest from the Government and build a permanant motor sports park including moving Clipsal to it. They claim that the Government is refusing to sell the land to them which means that Clipsal stays in the Parklands. Other states have such facilities such as in Perth. This will also protect the Parklands as the worldclass dedicated park that everyone loves.
