Health - A healthy environment is basic to our health but our own subjective feelings are often the first indicator. Education will assist to strengthen this and there are many other factors, including the observations by experts, family and friends (assuming the corresponding social structures are in place). Healthcare - The patient is the ultimate customer and planning should be community-based in the first instance, with centres of expertise determined by community need and industry expertise. Education - The most critical time for establishing a capability is the first years after birth and the baby's natural exploration of the world in the beginning has a major influence on its adaptation to later schooling. In the formal years, schooling across disciplines is essential to cater for future unanticipated demands for skills. Aboriginal Affairs - Aboriginal culture should be recognised as a major discipline in its own right. Occ Health & Safety - the government should adopt national laws that give workers a say, make employers responsible, empower health and safety representatives, respect the role of unions and enable workers and unions to take court action. Workers should have rights to a safe and healthy working environment, know what health and safety hazards they are exposed to at work and a right to be involved in and negotiate how hazards are dealt with, determine who represents them on health and safety issues and refuse unsafe work |
Food - Future planning for food must be balanced with population and the sustainability of food stocks, and the quality adequately researched with regard to health and the environment. Consumption - The range and scope of consumption are bounded by the capacity of the environment. Population growth, Government planning, economic activity and market regulations need to be designed to recognise this, as the viability of future consumption depends on it. Housing - More housing options are needed in South Australia. Small units and rental options should be available in the same way as traditional accommodation. Economics - Economics is a tool for managing human wellbeing through financial transactions. Bill of Rights - A Bill of Rights is necessary to ensure that basic human rights are maintained and also that adequate consideration is given to other sentient beings and the needs of the environment. Disability - Humans come in many shapes and sizes. All must be treated equally, and disabled people form one grouping. Sports & Recreation - Participatory sport should be valued and funded ahead of spectator sport. Big sport events have their value but as an addition, not a replacement. Motorsport should be in a dedicated facility, as in Perth, in the NW Adelaide metro area. |
