30 August 2010: "Make Abbott PM" survey wrong:  The poll "Make Abbott PM" was a wrong interpretation of the data, as it did not take into account the most likely option, i.e. to let the elected members make the decision - see letter.
21 August 2010: Minor parties and Independents first:  Congratulations to the people of Australia for the historic break of the 2-party stranglehold of Australian politics. The United Party, with the slogan of Parliament is Us, has been lobbying the public to vote for minor parties and Independents because of the failure of the two main parties. Recent examples: Water (Guardian Weekly, 6/8/10), Broadband (The Australian, 12/8/10) and voting for minors and Independents first (The Advertiser, 21/8/10).
19 August 2010: Multi-Party Government needed:  Australia's two-party system is obsolete and not in line with the rest of the world. This election it needs to catch up.
30 July 2010: Bringing Democracy to Parliament:  Today parliament does not belong to the people, it belongs to the majority party. The United Party is not contesting the Federal election and so is in an unbiased position to develop a strategy of collaboration between the non-major parties and Independents so that they form a stronger third-party voice and evolve toward holding the balance of power in the Senate and the House of Representatives.
22 July 2010: Population:  There are limits to what our natural resources can sustain with regard to population. Politicians should encourage industries that benefit Australians within this capacity.
17 July 2010: State Vs Local Govt:  In Adelaide, the State Government's Development Assessment Commission is a technical body and not elected, whereas the City Council's Development Assessment Panel includes elected members and therefore should have the final say. See the letter to The Advertiser.
9 July 2010: Water trading is the problem: Letter to the Guardian Weekly: The current lack of water in the Lower Lakes of the MDB is caused by the government's water trading practices, not the drought.
29 June 2010: Murray-Darling Basin Submission: The United Party has submitted a response to the Federal Water (Crisis Powers and Floodwater Diversion) Bill 2010. The main points include the need for the recognition of wider issues in the Murray-Darling Basin and a clearer focus on the central point, which is adequate fresh water in the Lower Lakes. 25 June 2010: The Prime Minister is not elected: "I was elected by the people of Australia as the Prime Minister of Australia", "the people of Australia ... elected me as Prime Minister" is false. As everyone knows, there is no Prime Ministerial box to tick on the ballot papers. Kevin Rudd was elected by the Labor Party caucus as its leader and potential Prime Minister but the voters had no say in this. See the media release.
23 June 2010: Elected member ignored: In the debate on the Adelaide Oval, it is clear that the elected State Member for Adelaide, Rachael Sanderson, is being completely ignored. This is a bizarre situation, for as the Advertiser correctly reports, the Adelaide Oval and the proposed new Royal Adelaide Hospital were key issues in the March state election.
